I suddenly developed chronic heartburn last January. Tagamet worked occasionally but nothing else helped. I’d heard about chewing gum and tried several brands but they didn’t work. Then one day I started to get heartburn while shopping at Target so I decided to buy Trident Gum. I chewed 4 pieces and my heartburn disappeared instantly. I haven’t had heartburn since — it’s been 6 months! 4 pieces of the Wild Blueberry Twist (other flavors don’t work) chewed for 2+ hours is truly a miracle for me.

I found that eating a Macintosh Apple after my meals, has greatly diminshed my symptoms. I have tried many apples, including apple cider, but accidently when I ate a Macintosh (canadian) apple, my reflux stopped. I am not sure if it is the sour/sweet taste, I know granny smith didn’t work, and I know Royal Gala, and Braeburn didn’t work. Also I am trying to cut down on Grains, Breads, and excessive Carbs, but of course the appples I allow. Try, it.

About a month ago I started taking various over-the-counter medications (like Mylanta or the CVS duplicate), I noticed I did get used to them and they stopped working after about a week…

The doctors never actually gave me medication… they just said to eat at least once every couple of hours. -shrug-

It’s an on/off thing. Like 2 months without it, then a week of having it, etc. It doesn’t seem related to any foods.

    Are you still on medication?

If your constantly taking drugs to lower you stomach acid, the body might actually be creating extra acid to compensate for the effects of the medication.

This is the mechanism of tolerance and withdrawal.

Why did this comment get a thumbs-down???

Lemons ARE acidic before they’re in your body, in their natural form BUT, once they’re inside the stomach, the form that they’re broken down into is ALKALINE. So, we can say that for the human body, lemons are alkaline/basic.

I don’t really know if they can “cure” heartburn, but I do know that my stomach is sensitive to a shitload of things and I recently started eating A LOT of lemons, and nothing’s happened at all.

But I’ve was diagnosed with gastro problems and had LOTS of heartburn and pain ever since I was 6, and at that point in time I only ate healthy… lots of raw and steamed veggies, fresh fruit, occasional lean meat/fish. :(

I don’t eat nearly as well anymore… but it honestly hasn’t made a difference in my stomach. I guess I’ll never be rid of it.

Pickle Juice!! it works! i’ve been gulping down the pickle juice in the mornings and i’m good for the rest of the day. i have to stay away from pork, fatty meats and fast food. fish and poultry are okay, red meat and pork KILL ME!! if u have acid reflux bad like i have, laying on the left side helps a tiny bit, but doesn’t get rid of it. Today i’m buying some apple cider vinegar to see how that works! i **** acid reflux w/ a passion i’ve also had my gal bladder removed 9 yrs ago.

I eat very little, mostly raw foods, and lots of fruit; all grown right in here in my own state, Washington!
I dont eat meat any more; I dont believe store bought meat is safe, and meat is really hard to digest anyways! I try and keep my body environment alkaline instead of Acidic, as disease needs an acidic environment to grow! Everything thing got better when I learned that! LOL
Oh and I take nothing from Big Pharma! (smile)

i totaly agree with the diet thing. i have tried lots of diets where i am very strict. unfortunatly i have not had success with this. the only thing i found to work was my pills or to eat continuously. i know the pills will work in the shot term untill they cause damage. i am now on a waiting list to get checked out at my local hospital unfortunatly the waiting list is like 3 months :(

I was diagnosed with LPR or Silent Reflux. I never get heartburn but I have asthma symtoms, belching, occasional choking while trying to swallow, post nasal drip,& bad breath.

My doctor put me on PROTONIX to see what happens, it has been 3 days so far. I am hoping my symptoms go away so I know this is what is wrong with me and I can try to figure out what the root cause of this may be. It seems to be more difficult with LPR as opposed to traditional acid reflux as the symtoms are more subtle.

Great video, I’ve been really suffering with acid for about 4 weeks, and although I consider my diet to be very good. I have been stressed and over indulging too much.

I have from my doctor some sample PPI drugs, but have been very reluctant to take them. Much to my wife’s displeasure.

I think some time to heal is whats needed and not a short term fix as you say.

    I hear
    Local Honey
    Apples
    Apple cider vinegar
    Probiotics
    Ginger

    Are all good natural remedies.

Not as simple as that If you do not have health care? How can you say this Is the problem when the problem can be caused by anything. So you keep changing food until you realize your liver went bad?. I do agree with this to a certain extent. When you drink water and have this feeling and a doctor says Oh It is reflux. Bullshit! In a new communist USA yeah, Where as before fast foods Adds were shoved down our throats. So have we killed that many people to now promote health? Give me a break.
